FBLA Awards Ceremony
On Friday, May 2nd, the Osmond Future Business Leaders of America held their annual Awards Ceremony. The program was held in the Multi-Purpose Room. The evening began with a video presentation of highlights of the FBLA year and honored the Senior FBLA members.
Rebecca Schmit, Vice President of the F.B.L.A. gave the welcome for the evening. Michele Weeder, News Reporter read the Invocation. A catered dinner followed this.
Amanda Lorenz, Historian gave a presentation entitled "This Was F.B.L.A. 2007-2008". Certificates of Participation were awarded to the members of the organization by Gabe Gubbels, Parliamentarian, and Brandon Weeder, Treasurer. Senior members were presented with gifts, of an F.B.L.A. lapel pin and a framed picture of the seniors. Senior members were: Andrew Blunck, Gabe Gubbels, Amanda Hodson, Lacy Johnson, Jenna Pint, Nicole Sanchez, Rebecca Schmit, Kelsey Stech, Kim Stech, Matthew Trowbridge, and Michele Weeder.
Lacy Johnson, past President of the F.B.L.A. gave the Senior Address for 2007-2008. She thanked the membership for their help in making the year a successful one and challenged the new officer team to work together. Senior members presented Mrs. Manzer with a gift in appreciation for her support during the year.
Mrs. Manzer gave special awards to Lacy Johnson for the $150 Scholarship given annually by the F.B.L.A. Outstanding Member Awards were given to Senior-Lacy Johnson; Junior-Kelsey Koehler; Sophomore-Bryce Johnson; and Freshman-Ashley Gillian for their work during the year. Mrs. Manzer's presentation addressed the audience with the thought of Lights, Camera, and Leadership in Action in FBLA. This presentation asked members to be their own directors in the movie called life. She asked the members to surround themselves with people who share a common direction and sense of community. She reminded members that it pays to take turn doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership and expertise. Her presentation also asked members to assist others and learn through attendance at conferences. She also congratulated and challenged the 2008-09 officer teams to motivate members and improve the chapters performance!
The candle light installation of officers for the 2008-09 school year was then held. The following students will be the officer team, next year:

Kelsey Koehler closed the evening with a presentation outlining her goals for next year. The 2008-09 theme for FBLA will be Get the Edge!
