FBLA Attends Networking Conference
Ten members of the FBLA attended a Networking Conference at Lutheran High Northeast on Wednesday, October 29th. The members were: Amanda Lorenz, Adam Miller, Kim Huwaldt, Craig Gutz, Brandi Koehler, Danielle Vinson, Leah Gubbels, Garret Kuhl, Courtney Wiese and Carly Schmit. The morning began with an icebreaker that involved the students getting to know FBLA members from other school.
Following this activity, Mr. Mike Flood the Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature addresses the group. He spoke of the Safe Haven Law that has recently been misused. The legislature will be called into Special Session to discuss this issue. Senator Flood also spoke about teen-age drinking in Nebraska. Emphasis was also placed on keeping young adults in the state of Nebraska to live and work after they receive their education.
A representative from JC Penney Corporation spoke about Business Attire. She taught the members how to properly tie a necktie. A contest was then held to see who could correctly make the knot in a tie. Ms. Jean Nielsen also told us the proper fabrics and colors to look for when choosing clothing for job interviews.
The Osmond delegation ended the day by going to Pieceful Pastime Quilt Shop in Norfolk. This business is owned and operated by Lea McKenna. She spoke to the FBLA members about being an entrepreneur. It was interesting to see the work that she has done to make her business a success. The students enjoyed looking at the fabrics, notions and quilts that are available for sale.
