Consumer Class Volunteer Project 2009
November 19, 2009
The Consumer/Career Education class collected items for the Wesley Center Crisis Nursery. Children who are placed in the home are provided complete care away from a crisis situation. These situations could be caused by abuse or risk of abuse, neglect of children, legal problems, etc. There is a trained staff that assumes the responsibility of care providers, tutors, friends, and role models.
The Crisis Nursery is a nonprofit organization that can serve up to 16 children at one time. The facility relies on donations for help. Members of the Consumer class took many donated items including boxed meals, canned food, paper goods, and cleaning products to the home. This project helped the members of the class realize the importance of volunteering in the community.
