Nuesch Leads Fourth Quarter Charge Over Hartington

by Joe Ortmeier

January 16, 2010

Friday the Tigers entertained Conference opponent Hartington.  The game was close till the fourth quarter when Osmond took a 2-point lead and expanded it to a 13-point lead due to a 9-0 run triggered by senior Amy Nuesch.  Amy started her run hitting 2 free throws, then got a steal for a basket, followed on the next possession by a 3-point basket and a Wildcat time-out. Osmond outscored their guests 19 to 10 in the final 8 minutes for a 43 to 32 win.

Laurel Krohn led the Tigers with 11 points, Kristin Gudenkauf added 10 and Amy and Kim Huwaldt each scored 9 points.  Ali  Lammers led the Wildcats with 13 points.  Osmond out-rebounded the Cats by one with Krohn collecting 9.  Kim Huwaldt grabbed 5 steals and passed off 3 assists.

“We missed some easy shots early in the game and dealt with a little foul problem, but the bench played well keeping it close till the fourth quarter when Amy came up big,” praised Coach Joe Ortmeier.

The Lady Tigers are 8-2 heading into next week.
