Ewing over Lady Tigers in Overtime 49-46

Osmond Lady Tigers played in the Championship game of the Wausa tournament verses Ewing on Monday night the 18th. The Ewing Tigers got off to a strong start taking a 12 to 6 lead after the first 8 minutes. The Osmond Tigers got going in the second quarter out scoring Ewing 19 to 10 to take a 25 to 22 lead into half time.
Osmond held the lead through the third quarter for a score of 37 to 33. Early in the fourth quarter Osmond lost senior guard Amy Nuesch to a knee injury. Ewing slowly closed the gap till they took the lead in the last minute. Kim Huwaldt hit a 3 pointer on an out of bounds play to send the game into overtime.
In overtime Ewing took an early lead before Kristin Gudenkauf hit a basket. Later she hit 1 of 2 free throws to put the Osmond Tigers ahead by one point. With 40 seconds left Sierra Summers of Ewing scored to go ahead by one. On the other end an Osmond shot rimmed out and the Osmond Tigers were forced to foul. Tiffany Thramer hit both free throws to put them ahead by 3 points. A second buzzer beater 3-pointer would not go for Kim Huwaldt so the Ewing Tigers win 49 to 46.
“We really played well at times, but did have our trouble spots,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier. “I was really pleased with our effort.”
Kim Huwaldt led Osmond with 13 points with Kristin Gudenkauf adding 11 more. Tiffany Thramer led all scorers with 20. Ewing had one more rebound than Osmond with Laurel Krohn collecting 9 rebounds. Laurel also had 5 assists. Kim stole the ball 4 times.
