Lady Tigers Top Bloomfield 61-21

Tuesday the Osmond Tigers entertained Lewis & Clark conference rivals Bloomfield. The Tigers got out to a fast start behind a pair of 3-pointers from Laurel Krohn and stingy defense. The score after one quarter was Osmond 16 the Bee’s 5. In the second quarter Bloomfield picked up their defensive intensity causing some problems for the Tigers but the home team maintained their lead for a 26 to 14 half-time score.
In the second half the Tigers half court defense picked up allowing just 7 points. The Osmond bench played very well running their offense efficiently and rebounding well. Final score was Tigers 61 –Bee’s 21.
“The entire team played well. I thought everyone stepped up on both sides of the ball.” Coach Joe Ortmeier praised. “It was a good game after a tough loss to Ewing the night before. The kids showed a lot of character.”
Freshmen Laurel Krohn and Brianna Kumm led the Tigers scoring with 16 and 12 points respectively. Osmond hit 15 of 21 free throws for 71% . The rebounding edge went to Osmond 40 to 32 with Laurel Krohn collecting 13 and Kim Huwaldt 7 more. Kim and Emily Brummels each blocked 4 shots and Kim passed off 4 assists. Brianna Kumm stole the ball 4 times.
Lady Tigers have a 9-3 record on the season.
