Lewis & Clark Tournament-Lady Tigers 31- Hartington 30

Osmond opened the 2010 Lewis & Clark tournament with a 31 to 30 win over the Hartington Wildcats on Saturday the 30th of January. The Tigers came out shooting 1 of 12 scoring just 2 points to the Wildcats 13. In the second quarter Osmond put on the full court pressure creating numerous steals and allowing Hartington only 4 shot attempts. The score at half time was 16 to 19 in favor of the Wildcats.
In the third quarter the Tigers kept the pressure on and picked up the scoring. Kristin Gudenkauf scored 6 of the Tigers 11 points while holding Hartington to 2 points for a score of 27 to 21 going into the fourth quarter.
The final 8 minutes saw the Wildcats closing the gap. At the 3:00 mark Hartington scored a basket to move within one point of the Tigers. Both teams had numerous opportunities to score. With 10 seconds remaining, Hartington had the ball out of bounds under their basket. Their first shot was just long and the offensive rebound was also long before Laurel Krohn secured the ball as time ran out for a 31 to 30 Tiger win. Osmond will advance to play Emerson-Hubbard in the next round.
“We had a terrible start to the game,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier. “The team regrouped and played well in the middle, before holding on at the end. It has been a long time since we have advanced in this tournament.”
Kristin Gudenkauf led the Tigers with 8 points and Carissa Gutz added 6. Ali Lammers led all scorers with 11 points. The rebounding was even at 26 with Laurel Krohn grabbing 6. Laurel also had 3 assists. Kim Huwaldt totaled 6 steals.
