Lewis & Clark Tournament Lady Tigers 39 - Emerson-Hubbard 43

Osmond Lady Tigers second round game of the Lewis & Clark tournament was Tuesday the 2nd at the Hartington High School gym verses the Emerson-Hubbard Lady Pirates. In the first quarter Kim Huwaldt and Laurel Krohn combined for 7 points to keep pace with the Pirates 8 points.
The Tigers did take the lead in the second quarter 15 to 12 before the Emerson post players picked up the scoring to make the score at the half 15 to 22. Osmond did outscore the Pirates in the third 8 to 6 sparked by a 3-pointer by Ashley Gillilan for a score of 23 to 28.
At the 4:45 mark of the fourth quarter Emerson built it largest lead of 34 to 23. It was at that point that Osmond went on a run with Kristin Gudenkauf scoring 6 points and Kim Huwaldt hitting a 3-pointer to close the gap to 2 points. The Pirates Brittni Bormann hit a 3-point shot but the Tigers countered making the score 39 to 41 with 12.3 seconds left. Osmond was forced to foul and Emerson hit their free throws for a 43 to 39 win. Emerson hit 18 of 19 free throws for the game.
“I am very proud of the effort our team put forth.” Noted Coach Joe Ortmeier, “it was an exciting game to watch. It is difficult to beat a team that doesn’t miss from the free throw line.”
Laurel Krohn and Kristin Gudenkauf each scored 9 points to lead the Tiger scoring. Alexa Heeney led all scorers with 18 points including a 10 for 10 performance at the line. Emily Brummels led the rebound stat for Osmond with 5, Kim Huwaldt led the steals and assists list with 7 and 5 respectively.
