Lady Tigers Rally to Beat Winside 43 to 39

Osmond Lady Tigers traveled to Winside on the 11 of February to take on the Wildcats. Early in the first quarter neither team could find the bottom of the basket, then Osmond went on a 12-0 run with Winside hitting a 3-pointer as the quarter ran out for a score of 12 to 3. The Wildcats then went on an 8-0 run before Osmond hit a basket. The home team would out score their guests 12 to 6 for a half-time score of 18 to 15 in favor of the Tigers.
During the third quarter Audrey and Jordyn Roberts combined for 12 points to take the lead at 33 to 25. In the fourth quarter the Tigers picked up the defense and forced some steals. One steal by Kim Huwaldt for a basket, then got a pair of key baskets from Emily Brummels before Ashley Gillilan hit a 3-pointer to tie the game At the 1:50 mark the score was 36-35 in favor of the Tigers. Laurel Krohn and Gillilan each hit a pair of free throws to extend the score. Osmond had outscored their hosts 18 to 3 before a free throw and basket at the buzzer made the final score 43 to 39.
“Once we got going in the first quarter I thought we would roll, but turnovers and missed shots proved otherwise.” Commented Coach Joe Ortmeier. “The girls stuck together and picked up the intensity in the fourth quarter and got the job done.”
Jordyn Roberts led all scorers with 12 points. Laurel Krohn led the Tigers with 10. Emily Brummels totaled 11 rebounds, Kim Huwaldt and Krohn each collected 4 steals and Huwaldt passed off 4 assists.
