Strong Second Half Lifts Lady Tigers Over Wausa 45 - 33

Osmond entertained Conference opponent Wausa on Friday the 12th. The opening 8 minutes were very close as Laurel Krohn hit her first 2 shots to put the Tigers up 5-0 before Wausa’s Peyton Swanson scored 6 for a score of 10 to 9 going into the second quarter. Kim Huwaldt and Brianna Kumm each scored 4 points for Osmond while Laura Claussen countered for the Lady Viking’s with 8 of her 10 points for a 21 all half time score.
In the second half Sidney Brummels hit a 3-pointer to break the tie and the Tigers would never trail again. Osmond outscored their guests 12 to 7 in the third quarter for a score of 33 to 28 heading into the final 8 minutes.
Kristin Gudenkaud and Laurel Krohn combined for 11 of the Tigers 12 points in the last quarter including 5 of 5 from the free throw line while the defense gave up just one basket on 9 attempts for Wausa. Final score was Osmond 45 Wausa 33, which moves the Tigers record to 12 and 6.
“The girl’s came out with good energy hoping to give the senior’s a win in their last game on the home court,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier. “We shot particularly well from the field from 2-pt range and from the free throw line. It is a good win over a good team heading into the sub-district tmt.”
Laurel Krohn led all scorers with 13 followed by Kim Huwaldt’s 10. Peyton Swanson led the guests with 12 with Laura Claussen adding 10 more. Laurel also collected 8 rebounds and passed off 7 assists. Kim stole the ball 4 times and Emily Brummels blocked 3 shots.
