Randolph Over Lady Tigers in Sub District Final 57-51

The Osmond Tigers and Randolph Cardinals squared off on Thursday the 16th for the D1-5 Sub District title. Alison Schmit got the Lady Tigers off to a 5-0 start. Carissa Gutz came out strong scoring eight points keeping pace with the Cardinals for a first quarter score of 19 to 19.
Randolph then took the lead till near the end of the quarter the when the Tigers full court defense helped them to a 30 to 28 lead at the half. Osmond started the third quarter 0-7 from the field, and got into some foul trouble. Laurel Krohn scored all 7 of the Tigers points keeping the score close at 37 to 40 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter Randolph’s Michaela Strathman hurt the Tigers in the lane and from the free throw line as she scored 9 of their 17 points. The Tigers did manage to close within a basket late, but could not get the tying or go ahead score.
Final score was 51 to 57 in the Cardinals favor.
“It was a hard fought game from start to finish and we could not get the upper hand” Coach Ortmeier said. “The girl’s gave it everything they had and left it all on the court.”
Carissa Guts led the Tigers with 14 points followed by Brianna Kumm’s 12 and Laurel Krohn’s 11. Strathman led all scorers with 17. Gutz also collect 16 rebounds. Krohn accounted for 6 steals and 4 assists.
Osmond’s seasons comes to an end with a record of 20-3.
