Fourth graders visit Ash Falls
ROYAL—The Osmond Elementary School fourth graders went prehistoric on Friday, September 25 as they visited Ashfalls Fossil Beds near Royal.
The experience was a fun experience for these young boys and girls. The day began with a 1-hour tour of the fossil beds.
Students also enjoyed asking questions to a student worker. This worker also gave a demonstration of digging fossils.
After the tour the students had an opportunity to buy gifts from the gift store. The students then had a picnic lunch, and then took a hike on two of the smaller trails.
April Doyle, mother of fourth grader James Doyle, brought a fossil to the sight. She asked Ash Falls’ fossil experts for information on the fossil.
After analysis was done on the fossil, it was determined that it is an Oredont skull from nearly 28-35 million years ago.
The fourth graders will also be visiting theState Capitol picture in Lincoln.
