4-6th graders visit state capital
BY DIANE KRUSE
On Thursday the October 9, the Osmond fourth, fifth, and sixth grades took a trip to the state capital: Lincoln.
The trip began with a 7:15am departure from Osmond Community Schools. When the group made it to Lincoln, they visited Memorial Stadium.
At Memorial Stadium, the group saw Nebraska football standouts Kenny Bell and Ameer Abdullah, but they were not able to talk to them or take pictures at all.
Although the students were unable to interact with the players, the experience gives off a lasting impression.
Fourth grader Reese Johns said, “My favorite part of the trip was seeing Bell and Abdullah in person.”
After leaving the football field, the fourth through sixth graders went to Morril Hall on the University of Nebraska campus, which was fourth grader Mary Jane Herrera's favorite stop.
At Morril Hall the students were able to see various historical exhibits and fossils which they have learned about in class.
Before coming home, the group took a visit to the Nebraska State Capital building. This was Karter Johnson’s favorite part of the day.
The upper elementary grades take this trip once every three years.
