Tiger wrestles battle at Winside meet
Wrestlers Compete at Winside Invite
The Osmond wrestlers competed at the Winside Invite on Saturday, Jan. 7.
The Tigers scored 20 points and finished in 11th place out of the 12 teams competing.
Wayne was the tournament champion followed by Battle Creek and Winside. The Tigers had two individual medalists with Paul Gubbels finishing second in the 138 lb bracket and Colton Beacom finished third at 145 lbs.
Even though we didn’t really wrestle our best at times today I thought that both kids did a good job.
Paul won all three of his matches to finish first in his pool. In the championship bracket he won his first match to move into the championship round where he lost a close decision to finish in second place.
Colton also won all three of his matches to win his pool. In the championship round he lost both matches to finish in third place.
Overall on the day Paul finished with a record of four wins and one loss while Colton finished 3-2.
Next action for the Tigers will be Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Battle Creek Invite. Wrestling begins at 9:30.
