Tigers 1-1 vs. Neligh-Oakdale, Hartington-Newcastle
Tigers Lose One and Win One against C2 Opponents
The Tigers hosted the Warriors from Neligh-Oakdale on Tuesday night; a game that saw the Tigers suffer their fourth loss of the season, with a 51-46 defeat at the hands of the now 12-2 Warriors. Friday evening, Osmond was able to notch their 7th win of the season, with a victory in Hartington, 62-37 over the Wildcats.

I wasn’t surprised to see some stunned faces in the locker room but was comforted to observe no signs of panic,” commented Coach Schulze. The Tigers demonstrated their confidence to begin the 2nd half, putting up 17 points on Neligh-Oakdale while only allowing 5 points on the defensive end of the court. It was a back and forth contest during the last 8 minutes, but the Warriors were able to make enough plays to come out on top with a 5 point win.

Cole added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 block shots to compliment is offensive output. Tucker recorded a double-double adding 12 rebounds to his 10 points. Osmond grabbed their 6th road win of the season with a commanding 25 point victory over Hartington-Newcastle. “I was incredibly happy with how we started the game. We were able to create the tempo we wanted by pressuring Hartington-Newcastle on the defensive end and capitalizing with fast break buckets or quality half-court possessions, both of which were areas of emphasis after Tuesday night’s game,” commented Coach Schulze. The Wildcats did not go down without a fight, outscoring the Tigers by 7 points in the next two quarters and closing the lead to 47-34 before Osmond finished them in the fourth quarter, putting up 15 points and holding the Wildcats to only 3 points.
The Tigers were led in scoring with Brock Johnson’s 14 points. Cole Moes finished with a double-double, including 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tucker Timmerman and Brett Simmons both added 8 points each. Keaton Timmerman played a balanced game in his second start, contributing 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Coach Schulze added, “I think we are beginning to find our identity 11 games into the season. We aren’t there yet but guys are beginning to understand their role and how they can be effective. As a team we are seeing over and over what makes us successful and what gets in our way when we aren’t playing well. That will give us plenty to work on over the next couple weeks as were prepare for 4 contests leading up to the conference tournament.”
