Speakers debut season in Pierce
PIERCE—The Osmond Tigers started their 2017 speech season at one of the more difficult meets they’ll have: The Pierce High School Speech Meet (Saturday, January 28).
The Tigers had four speakers attend the event. This included Aleia Kumm (Jr., Serious Prose/Duet), Jessica Jensen (Jr., Duet), and Leslie Jensen (Jr., Duet) and Anthony Heiman (So.,Extemporaneous Speaking).
Heiman had a solid start to his season as he placed eighth out of twenty-six competitors. He won his second round of competition.
Kumm, who wrote “War” the speech she’s competing with, had a solid first round, but did not place.
The Jensen sisters competed with their duet.
Head Speech Coach Christalin Ginn noted that the girls “…improved tremendously from the first round to the second.”
Shaylee Vargas (Jr., Duet) was unable to attend.
While the Tigers only have five competitors, they are competing in one of the more practical activities the Nebraska State Activities Association has to offer.
These students practice and improve in public speaking, developing skills that will prove important as they grow into adulthood.
