Lady Tigers wipe-out Wildcats
Tigers oust Wildcats
The Osmond Lady Tigers girls basketball team exploded with a 57-15 win over the Winside Wildcats on Thursday, February 9 at the Osmond Community Schools gymnasium.
Scoring forty-one points in the first half alone, the Tigers played with confidence in all facets of the game.
“We played a very solid game from start to finish,” Tigers Coach Michael Brown. “The girls came out and played well today, shooting the ball very well.”
The Tigers shot a season-high 40% (23-for-57) from the field and were 8-for-10 (80%) from the free-throw line. This out-did the Wildcats in this respect; Winside shot just 11% (3-for-28) on the night.
These girls took care of the ball as well. They had just eleven turnovers and accumulated 33 rebounds. The Tigers had eight steals and three blocks.
Four girls scored at least seven points for the Tigers; overall eleven Tigers scored at least two points.
Caitlin Kumm (Jr., G) had eighteen points on the night. Teammates Andrea Schmit (Jr., G/F) and Kelly Schuettler (Jr., F) each had eight points.
Mariah Stech added seven points. Shelby Aschoff (Sr., F), Kendyl Koehler (Sr., F) Emily Bolz (jr., G), Alex Brestel each had at least two points each.
The Tigers will travel to Laurel-Concord-Coleride where they are playing the Bears on Tuesday, February 4.
In the junior varsity game, the Tigers won 37-8 after a particularly solid last quarter.
Shelby Stelling (Jr., F) started with a deep three-pointer. Brestel scored a game-high 11 points while Johnson added seven points.
Stech had four points. Hannah Ferry scored four points
