Tigers enjoy Pierce Honor Band
PIERCE--Five students attended Pierce Honor Band on Saturday April 7th. Allison Aschoff, 9th grade clarinet player. This was also her second year making it into the honor band. 8th graders Karen Polt, Trumpet, and Holly Jensen, percussion. 7th graders Cali Gutz, flute and Taylor Thompson, trombone.
It was a fun day that started with rehearsals at 8:30am. They worked all day with clinicians Tom and John Jaworski. Tom is a retired band director with many awards and a long career of achievements in band teaching. John is his son who currently works as the band director for Ashland-Greenwood schools. He is also an avid composer for bands and programmed in the 8-9 Band was his composition Eclipse which was written in honor of the eclipse that happened last August 21st.
The concert was at 3:30pm with the 6-7 Band performing first. They performed the following pieces: Equinox, The Good Life, Resplendence, and Three Brazillian Folk songs. The 8-9 Band followed playing: The Knight's Last Ride, Eclipse, Quad City Stomp, and Photo Finish!
