Wausond performes well in their first three events
Wausmond One-Act Performances
By BRANDI GANSEBOM
For three months, Osmond students participating in one-act have bussed down to Wausa for practices. These practices range from morning to evening, averaging three times per week. Morning practices began at 6:30 A.M. Evening practices started at 7:00 P.M.
This is the first year that Wausa and Osmond have combined for one-act. Directors Mr. and Mrs. Hoesing believe joining with Osmond has been a beneficial experience: “We’re going to show everyone what can happen when kids work really hard and commit to something.”
After months of hard work and long practices, Wausmond debuted their first performance at the Swedish One-Act Festival on November 9.
Wausmond hosted Pop, Popcorn, and a Play on Saturday, November 10. This was the first sole performance of the play “Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge.” For five dollars, one would receive a can of pop and a bag of popcorn in addition to watching the play.
Wausmond last performed at the Lewis & Clark Conference in Wausa on Tuesday, November 13 and placed first out of eight schools.
One of the two best actor awards went to Tyler Baue. Paige Nissan and Kaitlyn Kumm were awarded with the two best actress awards.
Tyler Baue, Brandi Gansebom, Kaitlyn Kumm, Taylor Kumm, Ainsley Nelson, Esther Nelson, Paige Nissan, Diandra Polt, Jailynn Story, and Melanie Vanness received outstanding actor/actress awards.
A benefit will be held Sunday night (November 18) at 7:00 P.M. for the Nissan family. The public can attend, and there will be a free will donation.
Districts will be held in Stanton the following Tuesday (November 27). Wausmond will compete against other Class C schools for a chance to go to state.
