JH Lady Tigers drop two to Vikings
The Osmond Tigers junior high girls basketball team was defeated in both the A and B contests against Wausa on Thursday, January 10 at Osmond.
The Tigers got out to another solid start. They scored the game’s first three points and were playing some solid defense.
Cali Gutz scored her only basket of the game while Reese Johns hit the front end of a pair of free-throws.
The Tigers were doing a nice job moving the ball around and were aggressive taking the ball to the hoop.
“The firs quarter was pretty fun to watch,” Tigers Coach Scott Morrison said. “I loved the intensity and focus the girls had going into the game.”
Throughout the course of the game, though, the Tigers had a difficult time getting the ball in the hoop and stopping an aggressive Wausa team.
Wausa, who was up 9-3 at the end of the first quarter, held the Tigers scoreless in the second quarter.
The Vikings then added thirteen points in the second quarter while the Tigers landed just two of their own.
Anabelle Vinson scored her two points in here.
Wausa capped the game with a 8-2 run in the fourth quarter. Tessa Gardner scored a basket in the paint during the quarter.
Despite the being down by a large margin, the Tigers still had players who were doing some great things.
Cali Gutz proved took some great shots. Leia Buchanan did a nice job working on the press break. She dribbled the ball into the middle, bringing it up the court.
Reese Johns is showing that she’s a lot more basketball savvy compared to where she was a year ago.
Anna Kahny out-hustled everyone on the court. Caydence Krienert made several nice drive to the hoop.
Anabelle Vinson again show he aggressive attitude. Plus, she scored her first basket of the year.
Tessa Gardner showed how she can be versatile around the hoop at times.
“Overall, I was pleased with some of the positives! We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’re headed in the right direction!”
Callie Hoffman had a solid game. Juliana Kumm got more experience as well.

In the B game, the Tigers had played hard once again. They lost 4-2. Anna Kahny scored the Tigers lone points.
Several players played well. Kyah Gray got some opportunities and played well.
The Tigers will move on to play at Orchard on Monday, January 14 against Clearwater/Orchard.
