Osmond played host to the C2 Warriors from Neligh-Oakdale on Tuesday night, the team’s first home game since December 8th. The contest got started off the right way for the Tigers, with Merrix Denn winning the opening tip, resulting in a Keaton Timmerman layup coming from a baseline drive assist by Graysen Schultze. Osmond fell behind 6-4 a few possessions later and would be the last time they had the lead until late in the 4th quarter. The first half was controlled by the Warriors, hurting the Tigers with four made 3 pointers and a well-executed pick and roll attack (largely coming off Isiac Kurpgeweit’s 14 first half points).
The 3rd quarter was an even quarter with both teams scoring 16 points. The Tigers surged to grab momentum and control of the game but the Warriors held their ground going into the 4th quarter still up 7. Osmond kept their foot on the gas pedal, trying to increase the tempo of the game and force Neligh-Oakdale into making turnovers. The Tigers were able to do just that on defense and add in a couple Merrix Denn 3 pointers to trim to lead to two with a minute to go in the game. In a crucial offensive possession Aaron Chishiba knocked down a game-defining 3 point basket from the left wing with around 30 seconds left. “I am so proud of Aaron for taking and making that shot, he hasn’t been shooting up to his standards behind the arc but still had the confidence to take that shot in a crucial point in the game”, commented Todd Schulze. A tough defensive possession by the Tigers led to a jump ball pointed towards their basket. Up by 1 with 12 seconds left Neligh-Oakdale began full court pressure and fouling the Tigers once they caught the ball. Graysen Schultze was the recipient of their 7th foul and stepped up to the free throw line with 6 seconds left to make both free throws of his 1 and 1 trip. The final shot attempt by the Warriors was stripped by Schultze before the shooter could get his shot off and completed the amazing 4th quarter comeback by the Tigers.
Both teams had 4 players reach double-figures in scoring. For Osmond their balanced attack began with 16 apiece for Keaton Timmerman and Merrix Denn, Justus Maertins added 15 and Graysen Schultze scored 10. That balance has been key for the Tigers so far this season.

Osmond played its 2nd home game of the week, this one against a new regular-season conference opponent, the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates. The Tigers played a solid first half, with 6 players contributing to outscoring the Pirates 33-12. However, the home team didn’t come out with the same intensity they played with in the first half. Emerson-Hubbard tightened up their defense and outscored the Tigers by 3 in the third quarter. In the final quarter the Tigers did what they needed to do to finish the contest with their 12th consecutive win of the season. Merrix led the way for the Tigers with a game-high 23 points, Keaton added 16 and Justus put up 11 points.
