Osmond FFA Coordinates Trip to National Convention
Every year, FFA members nationwide converge on the National FFA Convention & Expo to
celebrate their accomplishments and find inspiration for their next steps. Motivational keynote
speakers, energetic concerts, fulfilling workshops and a sweeping expo floor bustling with
agricultural education and industry opportunities leave students snapping pics and grabbing
videos of all of the experiences they’ll remember forever. This year’s convention was no
exception, drawing in a record crowd with more than 70,000 students and advisors attending
this hallmark event. The 92nd Annual National FFA Convention & Expo was held October 30th -
November 2nd in Indianapolis, Indiana.
For the second year in a row, Osmond FFA Chapter advisor, Jessica Evans, has coordinated a
charter bus trip for her students and the students of four other area chapters to travel to the
National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. This year five Osmond FFA students traveled
to the National FFA Convention & Expo. These students were senior Zachary Alderson, junior
Zachary Boyle, sophomore Ryan Schmit, and freshmen Caden Wingert and Reese Hanna.
The charter bus containing 44 FFA members and advisors departed the Osmond Community
Schools parking lot at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, October 29th and drove all night to arrive in
Indianapolis by 6:00 am Wednesday morning. Students attended contests and convention
activities all day Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st. On Friday, November
1st students spent the day touring Chicago before departing for home. Some of the additional
tours that students experienced included the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Millennium Park in
Chicago, The Chicago Architecture Center Riverboat Tour, Soldier Field, and the John Deere
Tractor & Engine Museum. The charter bus arrived back in Osmond around 4 pm on Saturday,
November 2nd.
Despite some cold weather and a little rain and snow, the students had a wonderful trip, exciting
them about the possibilities for the new year!
