MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R

REGULAR MEETING

05/8/2017

 

The Osmond Board of Education met at­ 8:03 PM Monday, May 8, 2017, in the Media Center. 

 

It was moved by Koehler, seconded by Brummels that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the May 3, 2017 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session.  All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. The open meeting laws were posted in the building.                                                                     For:  6           Against:  0

   

It was moved by vonRentzell, seconded by Koehler to approve the consent agenda.           For:  6           Against:   0

 

Superintendent Hamm reported on behalf of Counselor/CTE Coordinator Brummels on assessment, Career Technical Education, scheduling for the upcoming year and Student Learning Teams.

 

Superintendent Hamm spoke to the Board about the community clean-up day scheduled for Friday, May 12, taking inventory on school keys, coaching and sponsorship positions for next year and the fact that board members are eligible to participate in the EHA health insurance with the member fully paying the premium.  Graduation, the District Music contest, the open Administrative Assistant position and LB 651 were discussed. Mrs. Ginn, the staff and the parents were thanked for a job well done with the coordination of the District Music contest and the students were congratulated on their fine performances.  Teacher flex days, disposal of old laptops, elementary art entries and the disposition of old band uniforms were also discussed.  Mr. Hamm covered upcoming dates of interest to wrap up the school year. Superintendent Hamm congratulated Hannah Gutz and Tyler Reikofski for being selected All Academic honorable mention by the Omaha World Herald as well as recognizing those students receiving NSAA winter and spring all academic awards. 

 

President Reikofski thanked the staff for another successful school year and Board Member Moes extended a thank you to Mrs. Evans on a job well done with the FFA banquet.

NEW BUSINESS:   

 

It was moved by Brummels, seconded by vonRentzell to revise board policy #5015-Homeless Students, to meet new statutes.                 For:  6                             Against:  0

 

It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler to revise board policy #5052-School Wellness, to meet new statutes.

For:   6                   Against:  0

 

It was moved by Moes, seconded by Krohn to approve the secondary student handbook for the 2017-2018 school year as proposed.        For:   6                   Against:  0

 

It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Brummels to approve a teaching contract for Eli Neitzel for the 2017-2018 school year.             For:    6                              Against:   0

 

The minutes of the meeting were read.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:13 PM.
