Graduation for the Class of 2017 took place Saturday

Graduation held for OCS Class of 2017

Mission accomplished. The Osmond Community Schools (OCS) Class of 2017 officially graduated on Saturday, May 13.

There were nineteen 2017 graduates. This included Blake Aschoff, Shelby Aschoff, Breanna Bolz, Bailee Gillespie, Paul Gubbels, Hannah Gutz, Brock Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Kendyl Koehler, Preston Koehler, Curtis Kralicek, Diane Kruse, Bryan Manzer, Cole Moes, Tyler Reikofski, Brett Simomns, Kyle Swallow, Tucker Timmerman, and Tyler von Rentzell.

Graduation began with a processional to the music of the OHS band. OCS Superintendant Dave Hamm then introduced speakers the upcoming speakers. 

Preston Koehler and Kendyl Koehler (Salutatorian) delivered speeches before David Diekmann, Commander American Legion Post 326 presented awards.

The American Legion Awards included Tyler von Rentzell (Male-1st place), Preston Koehler (Male-Honorable Mention), Hannah Gutz (Female-1st Place), and Kendyl Koehler (Female-Honorable Mention).

Hannah Gutz () then presented a speech. She was followed by OCS Guidance Counselor Jane Brummels who recognized students for their respective scholarships.

Tucker Timmerman also delivered a speech before Mr. Hamm and OCS Board President recognized departing staff employed with the school for at least five years.

These were Janet Brown (Social Sciences), Michael Brown (K-12 Principal), Rod Brummels (English-Language Arts), Randy Jochum (Activities Director/Spanish), and Beth Manzer (Business).

Senior involved in both band and choir joined their fellow musicians for their high school finales. The band and choir both performed a selection to send off the seniors.

Tyler Reikofski (Valedictorian) delivered his speech just before Mr. Hamm, Mrs. Reikofski, Paul Koehler (board member), Aaron von Rentzell (board member), and Mark Moes (board member) handed out diplomas.

Tyler von Rentzell gave the farewell speech. Then graduates found family and friends to recognize during a slide show.

The graduate then marched out of the gym in style (2017 sunglasses on their faces and tassels moved to the left).
