Tigers hear Chris van Houten's message
Chris van Houten
Osmond High School students were given an early Christmas present on Tuesday, December 18. Osmond alum Chris van Houten presented to the 7-12 students body on the dangers of substance abuse and addiction.
Van Houten told his life story in detail to make students aware of the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction and to give them strength to avoid some of the life-altering consequences that can result from such activities.
He had credibility with the students and staff not only because he was once a high school student at OHS but also because he lived first-hand what he was talking about.
This was striking considering Chris counted at least three specific times where drug and alcohol abuse nearly lead to his death.
Yet Chris proved to be a shining symbol of hope as he is a man who has found motivation to persevere through his struggles and who is building the foundation for his future success.
This was a beautiful lesson to students who are embarking on the journey of their lives.
