Attention Seniors and Senior Parents,

I just wanted to send out a couple of reminders. The FAFSA will be opening  October 1, 2020 and it will remain open until June 20, 2022. It is beneficial to complete the FAFSA sooner rather than later so that you completely take advantage of aid that you may be eligible for. I have attached a document from educationquest. A  checklist of the requirements to complete the FAFSA is listed on the next page.

I have visited with the seniors in regards to researching different colleges that they are interested in. I have encouraged them to take college visits. This helps them get a good idea of what programs the college offers and to get a feel of the atmosphere. It is wise to create a list of questions that you or your senior may have that can be asked while on the college visit. October is typically a beautiful time on campuses. I encourage you to go to the college website that interests your student and set up a visit. Students will need to complete a form and turn it into me for it to be an excused absence.

Lastly, it is never too early to start looking for scholarships. Scholarshipquest is a great resource to use to see if there may be scholarships that your child qualifies for. Set up an account for scholarshipquest and check it often. Scholarship deadlines and availability change frequently. Your child may need to ask for letters of recommendation for scholarships. It may also be good to start a list of people that they could ask and allows the individual time to prepare the letter.

If you have any questions concerning this process please contact me. I am willing to help or find resources to answer any question. Senior year is an exciting time, but also goes by very quickly!

Thank you,

Mrs. Stelling
