MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R - BUDGET HEARING - 09/12/2022
The Osmond Board of Education Budget Hearing commented at 7:32 pm, Monday, September 12, 2022, in the school library.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the September 7, 2022 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. Members present and having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building.

Superintendent Hamm shared information and visited with the board regarding the budget and the rationale behind the different budgeted expenditures.
The Budget hearing was adjourned at 8:04 pm.

MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R - REGULAR MEETING - 9/12/22
The Osmond Board of Education Regular Meeting commenced at 8:05 pm, Monday, September 12, 2022 in the school library.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: None
President Moes recognized Tiffany Rice, Brian Guenther and Regina Lorenz as guests in attendance and also excused absent board member Krohn.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Stanosheck, to approve the consent agenda as presented.
For: 5 Against: 0
Principal Polt reported on: 1) the status of Spanish I & II classes; 2) the new bell & clock system; 3) Plainview music sharing with Mrs. Ginn; 4) Homecoming activities including spirit week, pep rally and dance; 5) drills that have occurred to include tornado, fire, bus evacuation, secure and lockdown drills; 6) noted that the band will march in the Harvest of Harmony Parade on Oct. 1st in Grand Island with no queen candidate this year as there are no senior girls in the marching band; 7) the upcoming Parent Teacher conferences scheduled for Oct. 3rd ; 8) the end of the first quarter on Oct. 14th, with report cards being mailed the following week; 9) progress for training on the Safe to Help program; 10) the upcoming safety training for the school administrative assistant; and 11) provided an update on the one-act program.
Superintendent Hamm reported on: 1) the 22/23 budget; 2) tax asking hearing on Sept. 27th; 3) holding a special meeting on Sept. 28th to adopt the budget and tax request; 4) the upcoming external visit; 5) the annual ESU #8 visit; 6) upcoming safety visit; 7) staff in-service on Sept. 14th; 8) the annual Lewis & Clark Conference meeting on Sept. 14th; 9) the status of the current SPED car and the possible purchase of a new SPED car; 10) a community / family engagement night scheduled for Oct. 27th, covering social, emotional, mental and physical health; 11) thanked Security Bank for their $2,500 donation to the McClain matching grant fund; 12) provided personnel updates; 13) natural gas price updates; 14) spoke about the NASB state convention; 15) new signage for the North building; 16) Life Skills pep rally; and 17) new Senior exit and post-graduate surveys.
BOARD COMMENTS: 1) President Moes presented a thank-you note from school personnel for the pre-service lunch provided; 2) President Moes encouraged prospective board members to attend future board meetings; 3) mentioned meeting with the City Council about information sharing as done in the past; and 4) spoke about the upcoming Americanism committee meeting.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Members discussed the upcoming Superintendent search, timeline for interviews and offering of a contract, another meeting with the NASB representative and the Superintendent compensation package. No action was taken.
The minutes of the meeting were read.
