MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
10/10/22
The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:00 pm, Monday, October 10, 2022, in the multi-purpose room.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the October 5, 2022 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building. For: 6 Against: 0
Patron Input: Dan Heiman commended the teachers on the recent parent-teacher conferences and asked about the plans for the Superintendent search. President Moes indicated that would be addressed later in the meeting.
It was moved by Stanosheck, seconded by von Rentzell, to approve the consent agenda as presented.

Principal Polt reported on: 1) the end of the first quarter; 2) report cards; 3) honors breakfast scheduled for Oct. 27th; 4) upcoming activities to include cross country districts & state, football play-offs, volleyball subdistricts, the first one act performance, conference one act, conference vocal clinic and academic quiz bowl contest; 5) congratulated the marching band for placing 1st in Class D in the Harvest of Harmony Parade, ranking 11th overall out of 94 high school bands; 6) noted that fall break is scheduled for Oct. 21st; and 7) congratulated the football team on their current season, noting that a future meeting would be required after this season to discuss plans for the 2023 season.
Superintendent Hamm reported on: 1) the NASB conference; 2) annual school audit; 3) the upcoming UNL pep rally; 4) unified bowling; 5) upcoming external visit; 6) McClain Matching Funds Grant; 7) the recent safety visit, thanking Mr. Polt and the safety team for their efforts on the very positive report; 8) family engagement night, scheduled for Nov. 1st; 9) noted that a speaking presentation by Karen Haase for grades 5-12 will be held on Jan. 12th; and 10) noted that the NASB new board member workshop will be held on Dec. 14th.
Board Comments: 1) Gansebom spoke about he and board member Krohn attending the city council meeting to share information and visited about the McClain Matching Fund Grants, possible local housing and downtown revitalization grants, and noted there will be a meeting at the Pierce Library regarding things such as local daycare and after school programs in area communities; 2) Stanosheck commented about the recent Americanism meeting she attended; 3) President Moes congratulated the marching band on their Class D 1st place finish in the Harvest of Harmony parade in Grand Island.
Old Business: 1) The board further discussed the Superintendent search, working on narrowing down interview questions for the potential candidates; 2) asked Mr. Hamm and Mr. Polt for their involvement as needed during the search and interview process; and 3) reviewed the proposed outline for the interview schedules.
New Business: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, to approve the purchase of a new SPED car from Husker Auto Group through the State bid process.
