The Osmond FFA Chapter proved its agricultural expertise on October 22, 2025, by securing a first-place finish at the District IV FFA Poultry Judging contest. The victory marks a significant milestone for the chapter as they win the inaugural event and prepare to represent their district at the upcoming state competition.

The contest, which tests students' knowledge of the poultry industry and USDA grading standards, required participants to evaluate live birds, carcasses, and processed products. Members were judged on their ability to identify poultry parts, candle eggs for interior quality, and provide placings for production hens and market broilers.

"Our team put in hours of practice studying the Poultry Science Manual and refining our grading skills," said Jessica Evans, FFA Advisor. "Winning at the district level shows that our students are not only gaining technical skills but are also developing the critical thinking needed for careers in the poultry workforce".

Top individual performers for the chapter included: Alexa Aschoff and Addi vonRentzell, who tied for first overall earning purple ribbons; Ava Severson and Ava Reikofski, who tied for fourth overall also earning purple ribbons; Kenley Friedrich, who finished in 11th place and earned a blue ribbon; Adyson Poellot, who finished in 21st place and earned a blue ribbon; Korrine Moes, who finished in 26th place and earned a blue ribbon; and Deanna Kumm, who placed 37th and earned a red ribbon.

With this win, the Osmond FFA Poultry Judging Team has officially qualified for the Nebraska State FFA Convention, where they will compete against the top chapters from across the state March 25-27 in Lincoln, NE.
