Girls basketball ready for sub-districts
Osmond Lady Tigers Get Win over Winside Lady Wildcats 52-17
February 7th was the final home game of the season and parents night as well. Osmond was able to get back to back wins for the first time this season, as they had a win last week against Plainviews Lady Pirates and now this week with a win against Winside. This was a very good team effort as Osmond grabbed the lead and never looked back. Leading the team in scoring were Makenzie Johnson and Hannah Ferry, with 13 an 9 points. Macy led all re-bounbers with 8, Macy also had 4 steals. Mariah Stech and Kiera Moes both had 3 steals in the win. Everyone on the team was able to get some playing time in this one.
Wausa Lady Vikings Defeat Lady Tigers 43-29
Osmond jumped out on a 10-0 run in the first quarter, but Wausa managed to close the gap and lead 16-11 after the first quarter ended. Cold shooting and turn-overs led to the loss. Some of the players may have been run down from playing back to back games. No excuses, we just couldn't get things going our way in the last 3 quarters. Wausa has a very good basketball team and did a great job of shutting us down. They out rebounded us and played very hard nosed defense. Leading Osmond in scoring were Macy with 9 followed closely by Maddy Huwaldt with 7. Macy and Maddy led in rebounding as well. Macy had 16 boards while Maddy hauled in 5. Stealing the ball 3 times was Mary Kahny. Our next action will be against Walthill in D-1 6 Sub-District at Stanton.
