Osmond Lady Tigers Win Jamboree Game
The Osmond Lady Tigers opened the 2019-20 Season with a 46-44 win over Howells-Dodge.
This Hall of Fame Game doesn't count on your record but all proceeds go to the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame. It was a great team effort by everyone, Coach Schmit and I are very proud of how well the team played, especially after no practice for a week. This was caused by bad weather and our Thanksgiving Break. Leading the team in scoring was Kiera Moes/Mary Kahny/Macy Aschoff and Grace Gansebom, with 13/9/ 8/ and 7 points.
Osmond Lady Tigers Beat Randolph Lady Cardinals on Road
Lady Tigers defeated Lady Cardinals for first time in 7 years, by a score of 46-43. This also was a very good team effort. We missed a lot of free-throws and accumulated a lot of turn-overs but still fought hard to pull this one out, Top scorer's were Kiera Moes with 11points, followed by Maddy Huwaldt with 10. Leading in rebounds were Macy Aschoff with 11 and Mary Kahny with 7. We had a team total of 34 rebounds which was a good night on the boards as we out rebounded the Cardinals.
Mary and Kiera lead the team in 22 steals, each getting 6 steals. In the assist's department it was really divided up, as everyone averaged almost 2 each. Even though we made mistakes that will be correctable it was nice to get an opening win.
Junior Varsity Wins Over Lady Cardinals in a Low Scoring Two Quarter Game
This was a defensive battle as both teams struggled to put points on the board. 8 points is all it took to win. Leading the team in rebounds and steals was Elisa Herrera with 5 each. This was a good team effort as both teams pressed each other for 16 minutes of hard-nose basketball.
Lady Tigers Drop Home Opener Against Lady Wildcats
Hartington-Newcastle came to Osmond on Saturday and defeated Osmond's Lady Tigers 60-41.
We started out strong but the fourth quarter proved to be the killer for us as the Lady Wildcats ran away from the Lady Tigers. No excuses just tired legs and to many mistakes gave this game away.
Hopefully we can improve our record of 1-1 and defeat a tough Boyd-County Lady Spartan Team, this Tuesday December 10th. Leading the team in scoring were Kiera Moes with 13 and Grace Gansebom with 12 points. Mary Kahny led all rebounders with 8 boards followed by Kiera and Macy with 7 and 6. Our free-throw percentage needs to improve greatly as well as cutting back on so many turn-overs. These young ladies, all have been working very hard and have great attitudes.
