MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
Regular Meeting

The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:03 pm on Monday, June 14, 2021 in the school library.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the June 8, 2021 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. The open meetings laws were posted in the building. For: 6 Against: 0
Patron Input: Cleo Phanstiel was recognized and in attendance to ask the board about how transgender issues at school are being handled and asked about any new guidelines for teachings regarding racism and sexuality.
It was moved by von Rentzell, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the consent agenda as presented.
For: 6 Against: 0
Principal Polt submitted an oral report on: 1) report cards; 2) the updated Emergency Operations Plan; 3) complimented Robin Wagner on training her administrative assistant replacement, Jessica Johnson; 4) spoke about three individual members of the marching band participating in the Masonic Shrine Bowl festivities; 5) recapped the 21/22 school year and thanked the board and Superintendent Hamm for their support over the year; and 6) provided an update on a protective cover for the new projector in the gym.
Superintendent Hamm reported on: 1) school lunch prices; 2) the new foreign exchange student from Spain; 3) ESSER III application; 4) summer school; 5) complimented and thanked the MTSS leadership team for all of their work; 6) new paper towel dispensers; 7) 2021 – 2022 extra duty assignments; 8) provided a facility update; 9) congratulated Mrs. Evans on her Outstanding Young Ag Educator Award; and 10) spoke about minor board policy revisions to be completed in July.
Board Comments: 1) President Moes acknowledged a thank you note received by the board from Mrs. Keri Schultze for her retirement gifts and thanked Mrs. Schultze for her exemplary years of service; 2) congratulated the State track qualifiers and medal winners; 3) spoke about possible 2, 6 and 12-year school plans and a future meeting with the Wausa school board; 4) visited about obtaining a quote for a new bell system; and 5) Reikofski provided a NASB meeting update.
Old Business: None.
New Business: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Stanosheck, to approve the new wages set forth for classified staff with those employees receiving a $1.00 raise per hour across the board, effective on Aug. 1, 2021. For: 6 Against: 0
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by von Rentzell, to approve the bid from Aschoff Construction for the purchase and installation of a new steel building in the amount of $89,713.00. For: 6 Against: 0
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:58 pm.
