MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
8/14/2023
The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:03 pm on Monday, August 14, 2023 in the school multi-purpose room.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the August 9, 2023 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings law was posted in the building. For: 6 Against: 0
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized guests in attendance as Regina Lorenz, Brian Guenther, Terin and Anabelle Vinson. Terin addressed the board about possible high school girls wrestling at OCS.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to adopt the consent agenda as presented. For: 6 Against: 0
Principal Polt reported on 1) teacher in-service days Aug 10-11 & 14; 2) first day of school on Aug. 15th; 3) elementary open house and Chromebook checkout on Aug. 14th; 4) the high school JV football program; 5) varsity co-op talks with Randolph school; 6) wrestling coaches for the 23/24 school year; 7) upcoming activities to include the Jamboree volleyball triangular, first volleyball competition game, and the first cross country meet; 8) test plots being eliminated after this school year for the FFA program; 9) progress on Senior banners; 10) spoke about the new foreign exchange student from Spain; 11) current enrollment numbers; and 12) the NSAA scheduling timelines.
Superintendent Bremer reported on 1) the NASB Area Meeting on Sept. 6th; 2) the upcoming board retreat scheduled for Aug. 21st; 3) provided an updated vehicle inventory list; 4) addressed the insurance premium for the new school year and worker’s compensation insurance; 5) provided an update on the new A/C for the gym; 6) thanked those staff members who worked full or part-time over the summer, including Julie Simmons, Dwight Kahny, Kenny Boos, Jessica Johnson, Margaret Ryan, Mr. Polt & Mr. Guenther; and 6) spoke about a possible transfer from the General Fund to the Depreciation Fund.
Board Comments: 1) Reikofski spoke about the recent NASB meeting in Lincoln, including the address by Governor Jim Pillen and provided updates on LB753, gun control in schools, ALICAP, Spark Electronic Meetings Company, Gallup personality testing and a possible program to provide female sanitary products in schools; 2) Gansebom and Rice spoke about the recent community daycare meeting; 3) Gansebom also provided an update on the community sign project with the city; and 4) Koehler thanked the crew from LG Pumping for the recent concrete work done at the school.

It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, to approve a transfer of $150,000.00 from the General Fund to the Depreciation Fund. For: 6 Against: 0
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned the meeting at 9:20 pm.
