MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
9/14/2026
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:02 pm, Monday, September 14, 2026, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Reikofski, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice on the school district website and in the September 9, 2026 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with member Krohn being excused.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, to approve the Agenda as presented.

Celebration of Excellence: Superintendent Bremer mentioned the recent emergency incident in Osmond, and commended the administrators, counselors, crisis team and staff on their professionalism.
Patron Input: None. President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz with the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed, revised and/or new board policies 3041, 3042, 3044, 3045, 3046, 3049, 3050, 3051 and 3053, the financial reports and September claims as presented.

K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) the positive fall Acadience benchmarking numbers; 2) successful BIST progress; 3) provided an Osmond Tigers Partners (PTO) update; 4) PBIS program updates; and 5) noted upcoming events.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) the upcoming MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) for grades 9-11; 2) an overview of the Sept. 9 teacher in-service; 3) the FFA participation in the Forestry and Floriculture competition; 4) homecoming spirit week, Sept. 14-19; 5) the marching band performing at NE State Fair; 6) the Norfolk Area College Fair at NECC on Sept. 24; 7) Senior Fridays; 8) extended a thank you to the 7th grade band for playing the National Anthem at the K-6 morning meeting; 9) provided update on junior high participation numbers; 10) noted tornado, fire and bus evacuation drills have been practiced for all K-12 students; 11) cross country districts will be held in Pender on Oct 15; 12) play production districts will be held in Elgin on Dec. 1; 13) parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Oct. 6 from 3-8 pm, with school being dismissed that day at 2:06 pm; 14) end of the 1st quarter will be Oct. 14, with report cards being mailed the following week; 15) there will be a 7-12 assembly on Sept. 28 at 9:30 am, with the keynote speaker being Travis Pieper, “The All Right Guy”; 16) upcoming teacher evaluations; 17) advertising beginning in October for upcoming secondary positions; and 18) noted and thanked Plainview Public School for their added cooperation during several recent activities.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) Policy information; 2) the 26/27 school budget; 3) JMC school information system; 4) provided facility updates including new key fobs, stage curtains and updated security cameras; 5) provided a crisis team update; 6) the upcoming safety and security conference; 7) the NASB annual conference in November; 8) board goals; 7) superintendent goals; and 8) a procedure update regarding the new entry fobs.
Discussion Item: Superintendent Bremer presented on the proposed 2026-2027 budget and it was discussed among administration and board members.
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:58 pm.
Notice is hereby given that the next regular meeting of the Osmond Board of Education will be on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the school. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours.
