The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:00 pm, Monday, April 10, 2023, in the multi-purpose room. The President announced and informed the public that a current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the April 5, 2023 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted, and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized guests in attendance being Mr. Guenther, Mrs. Schmit, Regina Lorenz and Susan Norris, Director of Economic Development for Pierce County. Ms. Norris discussed local daycare and housing; with board members Rice and Gansebom also updating the board on the recent local daycare meeting.
Board member Reikofski arrived at 8:15 pm.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, to approve the consent agenda as presented.
For: 6 Against: 0
Principal Polt commented that Susan Norris shared a lot of good information with the board. He also reported on; 1) seniors honor breakfast; 2) a presentation for grades 7-12 on the dangers of fentanyl; 3) the Pre-ACT test for sophomores; 4) prom; 5) district music contest; 6) the 22/23 awards convocation; 7) kindergarten round-up; 8) conference track meet; 9) spring music concerts; 10) senior’s last day of school; 11) graduation and 12) provided a varsity wrestling and football update for the 23/24 school year.
Superintendent Hamm reported on; 1) an update on the 1% loan from NDEE; 2) a Facility Advocates update; 3) proposed new K-6 social studies instructional materials; thanking Mrs. Schmit for all of her curriculum research; 4) discussed the new natural gas rate; 5) spoke about the recent board retreat, thanking Mr. Polt for his notes; 6) provided an update on LB583; 7) a teacher resignation; 8) teacher contracts for the 23/24 school year; 9) offered congratulations to Keely Gubbles, James Doyle and Erin Wagner for qualifying for the national FBLA competition, and congratulated Reece Hanna, Zach Reikofski and Caden Wingert for their State FFA successes.
Board Comments: 1) President Moes read a tribute to Mrs. Denise Schmit who was in attendance and thanked her for her years of dedicated service to Osmond Community Schools; 2) congratulated Matthew Alderson and James Doyle on their state speech placement.; 3) offered congratulations to Reece Hanna, Zach Reikofski and Caden Wingert on their state FFA placements; 4) thanked the Randolph school board for considering a wrestling coop for the 23/24 school year, noting that the board plans to keep the lines of communication open with the Randolph board, planning for another future joint meeting; 5) Gansebom updated the board on the joint sign project with the city; and 6) Reikofski updated the board on her latest NASB meeting
Old Business: None.
New Business: It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, to grandfather existing certificated staff members to allow for bringing in more than five years of outside teaching experience if not already maxed on the salary schedule. For: 6 Against: 0
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 pm.
