MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
8/11/2025
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:03 pm, Monday, August 11, 2025, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Krohn, seconded by Rice, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the August 6, 2025 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with all members being present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz from the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed and/or revised board policies 5037, 5039-5044, the financial reports and August claims as presented.

Athletic Director Guenther reported on: 1) Sports schedules; and 2) seven awards received by the Nebraska’s Coaches Association for team sports having a 3.3 GPA or higher overall.
K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) recent meetings with staff regarding SPED, SEL, MTSS & PBIS; 2) crisis prevention training; 3) Administrator Days; 4) Acadience training; 5) teacher in-service topics; 6) instructional materials and Rule 10; and 7) upcoming events.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) Teacher in-service days; 2) first day of school on August 14th with a 2:06 dismissal; 3) morning homerooms; 4) elementary open house on Aug. 12th from 6:30-8:00 pm; 5) Chromebook check-out on Aug. 12th at 6:30 pm; 6) first volleyball and football games and cross country meet; 7) senior banners; 8) no school on Labor Day Sept 1st; 9) updated school enrollment; 10) junior high football and volleyball schedules; 11) junior high cross country numbers; 12) multi-cultural reports taught per semester, per Rule 10; 13) elementary tiger branch of Security Bank for the 25/26 school year.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) board policies; 2) co-op partnership with Plainview; 3) research on best value for new transit vans; 4) NASB Area Membership Meeting; 5) summer room remodels; 6) board goals; 7) facility updates; 8) superintendent goals; and 9) complimented the custodial staff for all of their hard work over the summer.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) Reikofski reported on NASB updates.
Action Items: It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action to recognize Osmond Education Association as the exclusive bargaining agent for the district’s non-supervisory certificated staff to begin bargaining next fall for the 2027-2028 contract year.

It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action on starting girls high school wrestling cooperative agreement with Plainview, to begin in the 2025-2026 school year.

It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action on starting boys and girls high school bowling cooperative agreement with Plainview, to begin in the 2025-2026 school year.
Yea: 6 Nay: 0
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, to approve transfers from the General Fund to the Activity Fund in the amount of $10,000 and from the General Fund to the Depreciation Fund in the amount of $500,000 for approved expenses.

The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 pm.
