Regular Meeting
12/11/2023
The Osmond Board of Education met at 5:03 pm, on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the December 6, 2023 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members present having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room. For: 5 Against: 0
The District purpose statement was read.
Board member roll call was taken with member Koehler being excused.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Public Comment: None.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the consent agenda as presented. For: 5 Against: 0
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the financial reports as presented. For: 5 Against: 0
Activities Director Guenther reported on: 1) District One Acts, offering congratulations to the OCS program for receiving District runner-up; 2) Academic All-State; 3) the start of Junior High basketball; and 4) provided an FFA LDE update, offering congratulations for the five students that qualified for State competition in Lincoln.
Principal Polt reported on: 1) District One Acts; 2) The last day of school for the 1st semester and report cards; 3) Christmas break; 4) NSAA moratorium; 5) Randolph holiday basketball tournament; 6) the K-6 and 7-12 Christmas concerts; 7) the Michael Foods ag program and employment assembly for the Junior and Senior classes; 8) an upcoming presentation by Mrs. Kumm regarding the elementary student council; 9) the Americanism Committee; 10) AQuESTT celebrations for students and staff; 11) the recent Principal’s Conference, including LB 343, teacher evaluations, Chat GPT and round-table discussions; 12) noted the upcoming administration co-op meeting with Wausa school.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) board and administration goals recap; 2) board committees; 3) board elections; 4) Rule 10 annual report requirement; 5) the purchase of new copy machines for the main office and library; 6) a new ice machine; and 7) the second Superintendent evaluation in January.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) President Moes spoke about board committees; 2) the Superintendent evaluation in January; 3) thanked Gansebom, Rice and Krohn for their work on the community daycare committee; 4) Gansebom reported that unfortunately the City did not receive the Downtown Revitalization Grant, but noted he would continue to work with the City Council on the electronic community sign; and 5) the board spoke about school traffic signs, recent city construction and how it affects school bus routes.
