MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
6/9/2025
The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:00 pm, Monday, June 9, 2025, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the June 4, 2025 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with all members being present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Celebration of Excellence: Superintendent Bremer shared with the board about the willingness of OCS students to serve their community, school and churches, noting that some of the community clean-up day was done by some FFA students after the original date was canceled due to rain.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Axyl Rice as a guest in attendance; also recognizing Regina Lorenz with the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed board policies 3057, 5023, 5024, 5025, 5028, 5030, 5031, 5032, 5033, 5034, 5035, 5036, the financial reports and May claims as presented.

Athletic Director Guenther reported on: 1) refinishing of the gym floor and new floor signage.
Principal Polt reported on: 1) staffing for 2025/2026 school year.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) reviewed board policies; 2) co-op partnerships with Wausa and Plainview; 3) an update on the food services program, noting there is a new online credit card payment option in place for payments; 4) refinishing of the gym floor in June 6-17; 6) possible update to lighting and electrical for the stage area; 7) summer room remodels; and 8) board goals.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) The board discussed the additional Tigers and Friends Childcare accommodations in the North school building and possible early childhood education goals for the future; and 2) President Moes shared a thank you note addressed to the board from Mr. Ortmeier.
Action Items: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, to take all necessary action to dissolve the Cooperative Agreement with Wausa Public Schools, approved on October 26th, 2023, in its entirety, with both schools retaining their NSAA obligations in the activities of High School Football and High School Boys Wrestling only through the 2025-2026 school year.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action to co-op all junior high sports with Plainview Public School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with revenue and expenses beyond coaches’ compensation to be shared equally, subject to the dissolution of the Wausa-Osmond co-op agreement by both districts.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to take all necessary action to recognize Osmond Education Association as the exclusive bargaining agent for the district’s non-supervisory certificated staff to begin bargaining next fall for the 2026-2027 contract year.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:18 pm.
