Regular Meeting & Board Workshop

The Osmond Board of Education met at 6:35 pm, Monday, April 12, 2021, in the multi-purpose room. The President announced and informed the public that a current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building.
It was moved by von Rentzell, seconded by Krohn, that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the April 7, 2021 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted, and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. For: 6 Against: 0
Patron Input: 1) the board met with a focus group of parents to gather input and discuss ideas; 2) Angie Aschoff reported on the Committee on American Civics and the proposed math series program for the elementary; and 3) several parents in attendance expressed concerns regarding low student activity numbers and inquired about future co-op plans.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Stanosheck, to approve the consent agenda as presented.
Principal Polt reported on; 1) kindergarten round-Up; 2) seniors honor breakfast; 3) the 20/21 awards convocation 4) prom; 5) virtual FFA, FBLA & FCCLA state conventions; 6) honor band; 7) district music; 8) conference track and golf; 9) graduation; 10) administrative assistant interviews; 11) an update on the new screen and projector installation for the gym; 12) the progress on an updated Emergency Operations Plan; and 13) class numbers and period updates for 2021/2022.
Superintendent Hamm reported on; 1) student numbers; 2) personnel updates; 3) GEERS Funds; 4) yellow building bids; 5) mask update; 6) teacher contracts; 7) state FCCLA; 8) new Nebraska health standards; and 9) a new student data system.
Board Comments: 1) The Board reviewed letters of resignation from staff; 2) discussed updates from the transportation committee regarding the current vehicle inventory; 3) provided a Wausa sharing committee update; 4) discussed Friday’s at Northeast; 5) a possible grant opportunity; 6) discussed recent focus group meetings and planned for a board workshop on April 26th to review all of the information; and 7) Reikofski asked members to try and attend future Pierce County Commissioners meetings if possible to show support.
Old Business: None.
New Business: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, to approve the teaching contracts with Dillan Wolfgram, Abby Krueger and Vanessa Steinkraus for the 2021-2022 school year. For: 6 Against: 0
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:54 pm.
