MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
Regular Meeting
11/14/22
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:02 pm, on Monday, November 14, 2022 in the multi-purpose room.
It was moved by Krohn, seconded by von Rentzell, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the November 9, 2022 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members present having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building. For: 6 Against: 0
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
President Moes recognized and congratulated Tyler Gansebom, Tiffany Rice and Justin Koehler for being elected to the school board, with Gansebom being an incumbent member.
Patron Input: 1) Kyle Overturf, District Auditor from AMGL, gave an overview of the 2021/2022 district audit; 2) Shari Becker, Director of Education Leadership Search Service for the NASB reported on the Superintendent search.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Stanosheck, to adopt the consent agenda as presented.
For: 6 Against: 0
Principal Polt reported on: 1) the honors breakfast; 2) WSC conference quiz bowl competition; 3) conference vocal clinic and concert, congratulating Mrs. Ginn for the great choir participation numbers with having the second largest choir in the conference ; 4) congratulated Erin Wagner for being selected to the NMEA All State Choir; 5) reported on the 7-12 vocal concert; 6) winter sports practice and the upcoming Jamboree basketball games; 7) the upcoming one-act play performances; including conference and districts; 8) Thanksgiving break; 9) the upcoming Christmas concerts; 10) 2023/2024 school calendar; 11) provided an update on trainings for the Safe2Help program; 12) the new NDE requirement for Computer Science as a graduation requirement; and 13) provided an update on the 23/24 football program as it stands currently, noting that upcoming student & parent meetings will be held.
Superintendent Hamm reminded the Board about the NASB state conference on November 16-18 and reported on: 1) the annual staff appreciation gesture; 2) the Veteran’s Day Program; 3) Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance rates for next year; 4) the negotiated teacher agreement; 5) the home side in the gym for basketball viewing; 6) an upcoming assembly for grades 5-8 and 9-12 on digital citizenship scheduled for Jan. 12th; 6) a celebration for students and staff for the outstanding reviews received during the External Visit; 7) provided a report on Wellness night; and 8) offered kudos to the one-act team members and sponsors for their play production piece.
Board Comments: President Moes asked Mr. Polt and Mr. Guenther about the introductory high school basketball coop meetings, with each reporting that the meetings were positive; 2) the board spoke about putting a monthly school calendar around town at several places for people to be able to pick up; 3) spoke about the possibility of a shared electronic sign between the city and the school; and 4) discussed getting superintendent search feedback from the community.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the 2021/2022 district audit. For: 6 Against: 0
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Stanosheck, to have the Osmond Board of Education recognize the Osmond Education Association as the exclusive bargaining agent for the district’s non-supervisory certificated staff the 2024-2025 contract year. For: 6 Against: 0
