MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
Regular Meeting

The Osmond Board of Education met at 6:30 pm, Monday, January 11, 2021 in the multi-purpose room.
It was moved by Moes, seconded by Stanosheck, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the January 6, 2021 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session.

It was moved by von Rentzell, seconded by Reikofski, to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot to elect Mark Moes as President; Aaron von Rentzell as Vice President and Tyler Gansebom as Secretary / Treasurer.

President Moes appointed Margaret Ryan as board recording secretary.
It was moved by von Rentzell, seconded by Krohn, to adopt the consent agenda as presented. For: 6 Against: 0
Principal Polt reported on: 1) the end of the 1st semester & report cards; 2) honors breakfast; 3) the Jan. 18th Teacher in-service day; 4) the first speech contest; 5) conference honor band; 6) Class D All-State band concert; 7) Conference, Sub-District and District wrestling; 8) Conference and Sub-District boys and girls basketball; 9) reported that Ms. Amber Albrecht is the new student teacher, currently working in the SPED program; 10) provided updates on senior banners; 11) extended congratulations to the girls and boys basketball teams for their pre and post-holiday tournament successes; and 12) provided an update on projector and screen bids for the gym.
Superintendent Hamm reported on: 1) the yellow building renovation project; 2) the bus barn addition; 3) the principal’s contract; 4) current guidelines for home basketball games; 5) mentioned that Counselor Stelling will provide a report to the board next month; and 6) provided an update on current enrollment numbers.
Board Comments: 1) The board discussed the 2021 board committee appointments; with President Moes outlining the final posts; 2) Stanosheck reported highlights from the teacher focus group; 3) it was mentioned that the ag focus group will meet with the board next month; 4) von Rentzell provided a report on the status of the new propane bus; 5) the board asked Mr. Hamm if he had any questions on his annual evaluation; 6) Moes acknowledged the thank you notes received from staff for the holiday gifts; and 7) recognized Reikofski in her new role as NASB District 17 Region Director.
Old Business: None.
New Business: It was moved by Stanosheck, seconded by Krohn, to designate The Osmond Republican as the official news agency; KSB Legal Firm as the district’s school attorney; AMGL as the auditor; David Hamm as the State and Federal Programs Director; and Security Bank as school depository.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by von Rentzell, to recognize the Osmond Education Association as the exclusive bargaining agent for the District’s non-supervisory certified staff for the 2022-2023 contract year.

It was moved by Stanosheck, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the hiring of Bill Ryan as a para-educator for the district.

The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:37 pm.
