MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
Regular Meeting
11/13/2023
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:00 pm, on Monday, November 13, 2023 in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Krohn, seconded by Koehler, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the November 8, 2023 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members present having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room. For: 5 Against: 0
The District purpose statement was read.
Board member roll call was taken with member Rice being excused.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the meeting Agenda as presented.
For: 5 Against: 0
Celebration of Excellence: Mrs. Amber Harrison was in attendance to present a report to the board on the updated school website.
Public Comment: None.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to approve the financial reports as presented.
For: 5 Against: 0
Principal Polt reported on: 1) conference vocal clinic and concert; 2) WSC conference quiz bowl competitions; 3) Thanksgiving break; 4) the K-6 & 7-12 Christmas concerts, scheduled for Dec. 11th; 5) preliminary work being done on the 2024-2025 school calendar; 6) Christmas break; and 7) the upcoming State Principals Conference in Lincoln.
Activities Director Guenther reported on: 1) progress of the Wausa-Osmond football coop; 2) Conference Vocal Clinic, noting that Erin Wagner and Donovan Heiman were selected for Conference Honor Choir, with Erin also selected for Nebraska All-State Choir; 3) junior high wrestling; 4) unified bowling; 5) the start of high school and junior high basketball practice and wrestling; 6) one-act performances including Conference, Community & District performances; 7) noted Academic All-State will be completed by Dec. 12th; and 8) recognized Abby Brown and Anna Kahny for receiving volleyball All-Conference honorable mention.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) the upcoming NASB state conference on November 15-17; 2) the annual financial audit; 3) the annual Rule 10 Safety audit; 4) the upcoming board retreat workshop on Nov. 29th; 5) the annual staff appreciation gesture; 6) the Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance rates for next school year; 7) the needed purchase of a new server; and 8) provided the co-op agreement that was passed between OCS and Wausa school on Oct. 26th.
Board Member / Committee Reports: President Moes noted that the board negotiations committee would meet briefly with Superintendent Bremer at the conclusion of tonight’s regular meeting.
Strategic Plan / District Goals Update: None.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda as presented. For: 5 Against: 0
Discussion / Informational Items: 1) Kyle Overturf, District Auditor from AMGL, gave an overview of the 2022-2023 district audit and answered questions presented by board members.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, to approve the 2022-2023 district audit. For: 5 Against: 0
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler, to accept the bid for a 4 Bay 1U Rackmount replacement server at a cost to not exceed $10,099.00. For: 5 Against: 0
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:39 pm.
