Tigers Led by a Pair of Firsts at the Plainview Triangular
On Tuesday, March 24, the Osmond track and field teams traveled to Plainview to compete in a triangular meet alongside the Wausa Vikings. Athletes were welcomed by sunny, warm conditions for their first outdoor competition of the season.
The Osmond boys were led by junior Mason True, who captured first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.70 seconds. True also earned a third-place finish in the 200 meters and was part of the third-place 4x400-meter relay team, alongside Trenton Wiseley, Easton Steinkraus, and Kaleb Gardner.
Wiseley added a strong performance in the 1600-meter run, placing second with a personal-best time of 5:39.30.
In the field events, Gardner secured third place in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 17 feet, 8.5 inches. Steinkraus and Wiseley both scored in the triple jump, finishing second and third, respectively. Steinkraus recorded a personal-best jump of 37 feet, 2 inches, while Wiseley also achieved a personal best at 35 feet, 7 inches. Although he did not place, Steinkraus also set a personal record in the long jump at 16 feet, 5.5 inches.
Despite being short-handed due to several athletes attending the State FFA Competition, the Osmond girls' team delivered a solid performance.
Sophomore Korrine Moes led the way, winning the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, 2.5 inches. She also placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 78 feet, 11 inches.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Siris Stanton, Nevaeh Newton, Kaleigh Miller, and Carriana Kumm placed third with a time of 13:42.50. The 4x100-meter relay team - Korrine Moes, Addison Miller, Adyson Poellot, and Kaleigh Miller - also earned third place, finishing in 1:02.70.
Individually, Stanton placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 59.50. Newton finished sixth in the 800-meter run (3:32.10), while Kumm placed fifth in the 400 meters (1:15.60). In the 100-meter dash, Poellot finished fifth in 15.2 seconds, followed by Addison Miller in sixth at 15.80.
The meet marked a strong start to the outdoor season, highlighted by multiple personal best performances and promising early results for the Osmond teams.
