The Osmond Tigers boys and girls track teams battled through challenging conditions at the Ray Doerr Memorial Invite in Plainview on Tuesday, March 31. The meet featured strong competition from Norfolk Catholic, Hartington-Newcastle, Ponca, Wausa, Stuart, Boyd County, Plainview, Creighton, CWC, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lutheran High Northeast, Wisner-Pilger, and Randolph.

On the boys side, junior Mason True turned in a solid performance. He ran a season-best time of 25.71 seconds in the 200-meter dash, finishing just outside the medals in eighth place. True also placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.23. He capped off the day as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team, joining Trenton Wiseley, Easton Steinkraus, and Kaleb Gardner to earn a sixth-place finish in 4:05.97.

For the girls, Kenley Friedrich led the way with a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 7 inches to match her personal best from junior high. Friedrich also narrowly missed the medals in the 100-meter dash, placing seventh in 14.44 seconds, and anchored the 4x100-meter relay team of Evynn Kumm, Clara Steinkraus, and Korrine Moes to a sixth-place finish in 59.06 seconds.

The girls' 4x800-meter relay team of Siris Stanton, Nevaeh Newton, Deanna Kumm, and Kaleigh Miller placed seventh with a time of 14:05.74, just missing a medal position.

In the field events, Korrine Moes narrowly missed a podium finish in the shot put. She held a top-six position until the final round, when Norfolk Catholic senior Marley Akin-Olugbade edged ahead. Moes finished seventh with a throw of 30 feet, 9.5 inches.

Despite the difficult weather conditions, the Tigers continued to show progress and determination against a highly competitive field.
