Osmond Track Teams Shine at Neligh-Oakdale Meet
The Osmond track and field teams turned in several strong performances Tuesday, April 14th, at the Neligh-Oakdale Invitational, highlighted by multiple runner-up finishes and solid relay efforts against a competitive field.
On the boys' side, Mason True led the way on the track with a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 24.40 seconds. True also added a fifth-place medal in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.90.
The Tigers’ 4x400-meter relay team of Mason True, Trenton Wiseley, Easton Steinkraus, and Kaleb Gardner placed fifth with a time of 4:01.60.
In the field events, Kaleb Gardner earned runner-up honors in the discus with a throw of 130 feet, 9 inches, while Easton Steinkraus finished fifth in the triple jump at 36’ 2”.
For the girls' team, Osmond posted several top-five finishes throughout the meet. The top performance came in the 4x400-meter relay, where Evynn Kumm, Clara Steinkraus,
Siris Stanton and Sunny Geneski captured second place in 4:53.30. Korrine Moes also claimed second in the shot put with a mark of 34’ 93⁄4”, while Kenley Friedrich cleared 4’ 9” to earn second place in the high jump.
The girls' 4x100 relay team of Evynn Kumm, Kaleigh Miller, Korrine Moes and Kenley Friedrich finished fourth in 56.50. Distance runner Deanna Kumm placed fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 16:56.10. The 4x800 relay team of Siris Stanton, Nevaeh Newton, Deanna Kumm and Carriana Kumm also earned fifth place, finishing in 12:46.50. Clara Steinkraus added another top-five finish for the Tigers by taking fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 29’ 10”.
Overall, the Tigers continued to show depth across both the track and field events as they prepared for a tough meet at Hartington on Monday, April 20th.
